Frequently asked questions
About the Stella chair.
We answer the most common questions about the Stella chair: adjustments, dimensions, and warranty.
Why doesn't it have arms? +
It's a design choice for waiting rooms with rows of seating. Without arms, each chair takes up less width, so more seats fit along the same stretch of wall, and it's easier to get in and out of the row. If you prefer arms, the San Pietro guest chair has them and also uses a sled base.
Do mesh and polypropylene hold up to public use? +
Better than upholstery, which is usually the first thing to fail in high-traffic spaces because it stains and holds odors. Tensioned mesh spreads the weight and springs back into shape; polypropylene wipes clean with a damp cloth and doesn't absorb anything.
What are the advantages of a sled base? +
It rests on two continuous rails instead of four points, so it spreads the weight and won't mark the floor when dragged. It also gives a slight flex when you sit down that softens the support without needing a mechanism.
Does it work for long waits? +
Its ergonomics rating is 1 of 5: no adjustments or padding, comfort comes from the curve of the backrest. It works well for waits of a few minutes to half an hour. If your waiting room sees longer wait times, it's worth moving up a tier.
Does it comply with the "Ley Silla"? +
Yes. The Mexican reform known as the "Ley Silla" (Chair Law) requires employers to provide seating with backrests for workers, and the Stella meets that requirement. For full-time workstations, the requirement is better met with an adjustable task chair.
